3 pin plug 

The 3 pin plug is made out of two materials, plastic and metal. As metals are conductors of heat, which creates electricity, The metal is the 3 gold pins. When this is plugged into the wall and turn on, the current will start to heat up and the pins will start to heat up and as it is connected to the cables, it will give off electricity to use for your lights, game consoles to activate and many other items that need electricity in order for it to work.  Then you have the plastics that are simply used as insulators to contain and circulate the heat. So, for a 3 pin plug, the plastics that are being used is the case of the plug which is a white plastic to hold as much heat in it and the plastic covered around the wire. The purpose is to stop the heat from going where it shouldn't be ending.  Some of the older generations plugs, that were used decades ago, used textile wrapping to insulate the wire. 

Award Winning 3 pin plug

The reason why this plug is the award winning 3 pinned plug is because of the development he done to it. He thought  that if he made it as thin as possible because it would help other people use the socket in small areas and places where the plug is stored. It's very thin as it can be folded up to an extremely small size and easily taken around. This avoids the plug from being less damaged as it can fit into tight, compact areas. There were also other characteristics of having this fold able 3 pin-plug which were being able to put your USB port where you could charge your phone or laptop using this socket.
